Description: Cala d’Hort is a small, lovely beach with a fantastic view of the mysterious island of Es Vedra, which lies only several hundred meters from the shore. The beach itself is sandy to one side and pebbly to the other. This is a lovely beach for body surfing on breezy days when the waves get a little higher and hit against the shore. You may want to visit this beach to watch the wonderful sunsets, however; it is extremely popular during the summer months.
Caution: Cala d’Hort is situated at the end of a steep road, set-in against the cliffs, so if you’re a nervous driver you may not want to attempt it during at peak periods as the road is reduced to single lane due to the numerous parked vehicles along the road.
Facilities: There are three excellent beach restaurants and one renowned for it’s fresh fish. Two are located on the beach and the third, Es Boldado, is accessed from the road to the beach (from signs: San Jose). There is also a small boutique open in summer that sells designer beachwear.
Directions: Accessible only by car, follow signposts from San José then right to Cala d’Hort. Parking is a bit haphazard and can prove difficult in high season so arrive early to guarantee yourself a spot.
