The village of San-Joan is in the northern most part of the island. The only accessible place after the village if San-Joan is the large beach of Cala San Vicente, a few kilometres away on a sinuous road in the middle of pine forest hills. That is why the village of San-Joan is probably the least encroached by modern tourism and is a privileged area for what we call in Ibiza “agro-tourism”. More aptly said; bed and breakfast inns within a rural setting.
Far from the hustle and bustle of the many tourist areas, you can visit and see the original island before it was annexed by Spain. San-Joan is also appreciated by hippies who want to adopt a more spiritual and alternative lifestyle and be closer to nature.
As most villages, San-Joan village is centred around its white church. The serene and flower covered main street is very charming. There is not much to do in San-Joan but the charm of the village lies in its simplicity and its traditional characteristics. Spending a day in Cala San Vicente can be the occasion to pass by and visit the village.
The beach of San-Joan is splendidly wide which allows you to find room even in the high season. Surrounded with pine trees and a paved walkway to the beach, the scenery is very pleasant and the water is clear and tranquil.
